There was no question of where we wanted to go for our honeymoon. We decided to go to “paradise,” and after googling paradise on the internet and looking at pictures of several different exotic locations, the vote was unanimous: my husband and I were going to Bora Bora.
The moment we arrived in Bora Bora we were greeted by a lei of the island’s Tiari flowers and by islanders singing in the airport. The parking lot was a dock and we were shuttled to our hotel, Le Meridien by boat. We were fortunate to be able to stay on an over-the-water-bungalow, it was so KILLER! It seemed as if 70% of people at our hotel were on their honeymoon from all over the world, 20% were couples on vacation and 10% were families.
Our friends had recently gone and they told us to pack light. We did: bathing suits, board shorts, flip-flops, snorkel equipment, sunscreen and a few outfits is all you need. All you want to do there is be outside, it’s glorious! The water is warm, the weather is nice (with a few sporadic 10 minute rainstorms), and the scenery is breathtaking, except for these scary looking two!
I would highly recommend vacationing to Bora Bora if you are looking for a once in a lifetime getaway. The only drawback is that it is quite pricey (especially the food because almost everything is imported, and my husband and I decided to go before we went on a budget and adopted our frugal life.) It is worth doing whatever you can to go: have a garage sale or 10, lemonade stand, bake sale, car wash, babysitting your kids friends…..anything!! Bringing protein bars and your own snorkeling equipment will save you quite a bit of money and take some of the edge off.
Questions for you: Is this what paradise looks like to you? Have you been to Bora Bora? What were your experience?
Bora Bora is such an idyllic place for a honeymoon. Hubby and I went there a few years ago for our 40th wedding anniversary. So romantic. 🙂
It is so romantic! I would love to revisit……someday!
This is the first place I want to visit once my son learns to swim. We’ll just get our tropical fix with vacations to Hawai’i for now… A much more baby friendly flight time-wise. I love your pictures, I’m jealous!
Hawaii is definitely much more baby friendly, flight and all. And it is incredibly beautiful there! When he learns how to swim it will be so awesome to let him loose in the warm waters, and you guys can snorkel all day long!
