Today is a sad day, since this will be my last posting as a featured writer here on Bucket List Publications.
Over the last few months, Bucket List readers have accompanied me on a stroll down Memory Lane, and also on a couple of new adventures.
Together we’ve seen Yosemite, California, threatened by the terrible Rim Fire. This brought home to me how lucky I am to have visited Alexandria, Egypt, before the troubles began, and how sad I am to have missed seeing New Orleans before Katrina and New York City before the Twin Towers fell. This latter regret was brought into sharp, heart-wrenching focus when we visited the moving 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan.
On a lighter note, we’ve ridden roller coasters at Cedar Point Amusement Park, Ohio, and walked around on the roof of CN Tower in Toronto, 1168 feet above the sidewalk (well, Sue did… my feet stayed firmly on the ground that day). We’ve been ziplining in Canada, Mexico, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, and then returned to Mexico to go swimming in, hiking through and ziplining into a bunch of different cenotes. And we’ve taken one last ride on the Canadian Maid of the Mist, in Niagara Falls.
We’ve seen Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, through the eyes of a non-beer drinker (the Jaspa’s Journey books were originally intended for children, after all), and spent two glorious days walking and geocaching our way around St. Petersburg, Russia. We’ve explored the stunning desert landscapes of Utah and even witnessed the penultimate launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
But all good things must come to an end, as they say. And I hope I’m not letting the cat out of the bag by saying Lesley and Bucket List have some have some very exciting changes coming in the New Year. So, since this time next week I’ll be off on my next adventure (in Hawaii, my 50th state visited!!!), and by the time I get back the Holidays will be well and truly upon us, it makes sense to round off my contribution to Bucket List Publications today.
I’d like to thank Lesley for the opportunity to work with her, and wish her bucket (list) loads of success in the future.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my Bucket List posts over the last few months, and will come and visit me at my own blog, Jaspa’s Journal, where there may be a post or two about Hawaii over the coming weeks!
