Underwater adventures always top the list for Darren and I. We could live in the water and usually spend the better part of our vacation submerged in the water world. With GoPro, we can capture our experiences perfectly but adding us into the photo isn’t as easy. The GoPro Pole 2X Telescoping is a telescoping pole for the GoPro Hero and we were able to test it out on our Hawaiian vacation. It was lightweight, easy to use, and fit into my backpack. We scoped out the ocean and have proof that we were actually there thanks to the GoScope.
At 4 ounces, the GoPro Pole 2X Telescoping is super lightweight and it came ready to attach to my GoPro. I didn’t need to add any additional pieces or remember to bring anything extra. It fit easily into my backpack wasn’t an issue at airport security. That’s a great start for a regular traveler.
Our Fair-Wind Cruise on The Big Island was Darren’s first saltwater scuba adventure and capturing it was important. He wanted to relive his experience again and again. Within seconds, he attached the GoScope to the camera and was ready to go. Since it was so lightweight, it wasn’t an additional worry or weight on Darren’s shoulders… or hands.
While underwater, he realized he should have tested the different positions of the scope. The first two tries were shaky since he was figuring out the positioning but once he got the hang of it, it was natural. He loved that he could get up-close-and-personal with the marine life without actually disturbing it.
A great thing that Darren learned during his scuba dive was that the GoPro Pole 2X Telescoping actually floats with one camera attached. He did drop it once when rising to the surface and to his surprise, it didn’t quickly drop to the bottom of the ocean, never to been seen again. All of our Hawaii footage was on the camera; it would have been a very different ending to our vacation if the GoPro was lost.
Made from forged aluminum and temperature controlled ABS plastic, the GoScope is Carter friendly. We can both be hard on our gear. Traveling and extreme adventures are not easy on your stuff but we don’t need to worry about GoScope; they are almost indestructible.
There are mounts on two sides of the scope so we placed one camera facing out and one camera facing in while we were snorkeling; we could be in the photos while still capture the life around us.
I didn’t scuba dive, but I did use the GoPro Pole while snorkeling. I loved it too! I’m much more timid than Darren and that buffer area between me and the marine life was perfect. 37″, the maximum extension, is a wonderful viewing distance for me.
We’re already looking at the photos and videos from Hawaii and dreaming about our return. Until we can go back, we’ll have the memories created while using the GoPro Pole 2X Telescoping.
I received the GoScope Original for free from GoScope as coordinated by Deep Creek PR an Outdoor Retailer Public Relations Company in consideration for review publication. All ideas and thoughts are my own.
